RTA Bus Route 27 is the lowest-cost public option out of Dubai International Airport, with fares starting around AED 3–5 when using a Nol card. The route runs from DXB to the Gold Souq Bus Station in Deira, so it mainly suits travelers heading to older central districts rather than the Marina or Palm. Buses are run by the RTA, the same agency that operates the Dubai Metro and taxis.
From DXB, Route 27 usually departs near Terminal 1 at the airport bus stands outside arrivals; look for the RTA red-and-white bus stop signs with the number 27 clearly printed. The ride to Gold Souq Bus Station typically takes around 30–40 minutes, depending on Sheikh Rashid Road traffic and the number of intermediate stops. Services generally run every 20–30 minutes, with slightly thinner frequencies late at night.
You must pay with a Nol card, the rechargeable smart card used across Dubai public transport; the basic Silver Nol card itself costs around AED 25 including some starting credit. There is no cash payment on the bus, so buy or top up the Nol card at airport Metro stations near T1 and T3 before heading to the bus stop. Compared with the Red Line Metro from DXB, which reaches Union or BurJuman in about 15–20 minutes, Route 27 adds extra time in exchange for a lower fare and a direct drop at Gold Souq Bus Station. If your hotel is in Deira near Al Ras or Naif and within a 1–1.5 km walk of Gold Souq, you often skip an extra taxi or Metro transfer by using this bus instead of the train.
Tip: if your flight lands in T3, expect about a 10–15 minute walk or shuttle plus passport control time before you reach the T1 side bus area, so don’t count on catching the very next Route 27 departure on tight late-night arrivals.
