Arriving drivers can pick up a rental car directly at DXB

The Car Rental Centre sits inside Dubai International Airport’s T1 and T3 arrivals halls, so you walk straight from baggage claim to counters in under 5 minutes. Major brands like Hertz, Avis, Budget, Thrifty and Sixt operate here, plus several UAE local firms, all tied into DXB’s on-site parking structures.

Most desks in T1 and T3 arrivals stay open 24 hours, matching Emirates’ overnight waves and early-morning landings. After you sign the contract, staff direct you to the multi-level car parks attached to each terminal, usually a 2–4 minute walk from the counters with elevators and clear signs for “Car Rental Return.”

Expect basic economy sedans to start around AED 120–150 per day if booked in advance, with SUVs and 4x4s often running AED 250–400. Some desks quote prices in US dollars and then convert to dirhams at payment, so check the AED total and ask for a printed agreement that shows the per-day rate and taxes.

Driving out of DXB is straightforward: from the rental car exits, signs push you to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) within about 10–15 minutes of leaving the parking deck. For Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, E311 is usually faster; for Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Abu Dhabi, most drivers follow E11.

Salik (Dubai’s toll system) sits on main routes like Sheikh Zayed Road, and rental agencies typically charge around AED 5 per gate plus an admin fee of AED 5–10 per day. Kilometre limits vary a lot: some contracts offer 250 km per day, others “unlimited km,” so read that line before you pull out of the basement garage in T3.

Fuel rules change by company: several on-airport brands at DXB operate full-to-full and add a refuelling fee of roughly AED 50–100 if you return near empty. There is a petrol station on Airport Road within about 3 km of T1 and T3, which makes topping off easy on the way back to the Car Rental Return ramps.

For a smoother exit, book ahead, bring your home-country licence plus an International Driving Permit if your licence isn’t in English, and screenshot your booking so you can match the desk name quickly in the T1 or T3 arrivals hall.
