The Intercity Coach to Abu Dhabi connects from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Abu Dhabi city in roughly 1.5–2 hours, depending on traffic on E11. This is a standard coach service, not run by the airport, and it typically undercuts taxis by hundreds of dirhams for the same route. It’s the budget move if your real destination is Abu Dhabi but you landed in Dubai on an Emirates, flydubai, or other carrier into T1 or T3.
Coaches usually operate from early morning to late evening, with frequencies that can drop to one bus per hour outside peak times. Tickets often price in the range of a few dozen dirhams per person, versus around AED 250–350 for a metered taxi between DXB and central Abu Dhabi. You buy tickets at the relevant counter or kiosk near the airport bus area rather than at airline desks, so factor in an extra 10–15 minutes of walking and queuing after you exit T1 or T3 arrivals.
From T1 and T3 arrivals, follow signs for public buses; the airport bus stands sit outside the terminal buildings, so you are landside, not post-security, before you board the Intercity Coach to Abu Dhabi. The coach usually drops in Abu Dhabi’s main bus station area or another central stop, from where local Abu Dhabi buses or a short taxi ride (often under AED 30) connect you to hotels on the Corniche, Al Zahiyah, or the Grand Mosque side of town.
The coaches are standard intercity buses with air conditioning and luggage space under the cabin; large checked bags and 7–10 kg cabin bags go underneath or on overhead racks. Onboard Wi‑Fi is hit-or-miss, so download maps and hotel details at DXB using the airport’s free Wi‑Fi, which usually gives at least a couple of hours of access per login session. Bring a light layer, because the cabin can sit around 20°C even when it’s 40°C outside.
