Metered RTA taxis, ordered through Careem, is what Hala Taxi does at DXB.
Hala Taxi lets you book Dubai’s regulated RTA cabs through the Careem app as soon as you hit arrivals in T1, T2, or T3. You still get a standard metered taxi, but the order runs via the app instead of walking to the regular taxi queue outside each terminal. Fares follow the official Dubai Taxi meter, with the airport flag-down starting around AED 25 plus per‑kilometer charges.
Pickups sit at the regular taxi ranks outside each terminal’s arrivals hall, typically a 3–7 minute walk from baggage claim in T3 and about 2–4 minutes in T1 and T2. You choose “Hala Taxi” in the Careem app, drop your terminal and hotel or address, then meet the car at the signed taxi area. Drivers are the same licensed RTA taxi drivers who also work the standard curb queues, so you’re not in a private-hire sedan but an official cream-colored cab with a colored roof.
Hala Taxi runs 24/7 at DXB, matching the airport’s all-night bank of arrivals that spikes around 23:00–03:00 in T3. During busy banks, wait times in the app may show 5–15 minutes for a car to be dispatched, which can still beat a taxi queue stretching 50–100 people deep after a full A380 or 777 unloads. You see the estimated fare in the app before confirming, which helps if you’re watching a budget on a 25–40 km ride into Marina, JLT, or Deira.
Payment goes either by cash or card in the taxi’s meter terminal, or directly inside the Careem app if you’ve stored a Visa or Mastercard. The meter runs in AED, and the app trip receipt logs the start time, distance, and total fare, handy for a 170–220 AED claim on a run to Jebel Ali or for tracking multiple trips across a 2–3 day stopover. Tipping isn’t mandatory; most locals round up to the nearest 5 AED.
One tip: set up the Careem app and verify your mobile number and card before you land, then switch on roaming or airport Wi‑Fi in T1, T2, or T3 so you can request Hala Taxi as soon as your bags hit the belt.
