P5 sits slightly away from Terminal T1 at Dortmund Airport and works best if your car is under the 2.0 m head clearance in this multi-storey car park. Pricing lands in the mid-range bracket here, usually cheaper than the closest short‑stay garages but more than the open long‑stay fields like P6 or P7. You trade a short walk for covered levels that keep frost, summer sun and hail off the car.

This is standard airport parking, not valet: you park, lock and keep your keys. P5 connects to T1 via public bus line 490, with a ride of around 5 minutes once you’re on board. The same 490 service also links P4, P6 and P7, so you will likely share the bus with passengers from other car parks during busier waves of departures and arrivals.

Bus line 490 runs as a normal public service, not a free shuttle, so plan for a ticket at about €2 per person each way, with children up to age 6 riding free. If you are parking a family car and bringing two adults and one child, budget roughly €8 for the round-trip bus fares. Tickets are typically bought from standard public transport machines or via local transit apps, so have a payment card or coins ready.

Height is the big filter: anything taller than 2.0 m, like many vans or SUVs with roof boxes, needs one of the outdoor options such as P3 or P6. That same 2.0 m limit applies across the P5 decks, so a roof-mounted bike rack or cargo box can be the difference between fitting and being turned away. Measure the total vehicle height at home; don’t guess.
