P4 gives you covered parking, but you ride bus 490
P4 sits in the remote parking zone at Dortmund Airport and offers covered spaces, so your car isn’t sitting in the open while you’re away from T1. It’s a good middle ground between the uncovered long-term lots like P6 or P7 and the more expensive on-site garages by the terminal. You still park in an official airport car park, just not right next to departures in T1.
Instead of a private shuttle, P4 links into the regular bus network via bus line 490, which also serves P5, P6 and P7. The ride to T1 from the P4 stop is only about 5 minutes, and you use the same public transport ticketing as everywhere else. That bus connection is what keeps the daily rate lower than the closer multistorey garages at Dortmund Airport.
Tickets for bus 490 run around €2 for a single trip, the same price passengers pay from the other remote car parks, so factor €4 return into your parking cost. If you’re parking for several days, that small extra outlay usually still leaves P4 cheaper than the terminal-adjacent options. The trade-off is simple: covered parking plus a short bus, instead of walking straight from your car into T1.
Signage in the remote area points you clearly toward P4, P5, P6 and P7, but only P4 has covered parking with that bus 490 link, so check the P4 label on the entrance barrier. Buses typically stop right by the car park access road, making it an easy roll with standard cabin luggage. For early flights from T1, arrive at P4 at least 30 minutes before check-in to allow for parking, walking to the bus stop and the 5-minute ride to the terminal.
