Daily rates at P3 sit in Dortmund Airport’s most economical band

P3 belongs to the airport’s “most economical” group alongside P6 and P7, so it’s one of the cheapest official options on-site at DTM’s Terminal T1. It’s still airport property, so you’re not dealing with third‑party shuttle operators or off-airport addresses when you fly in or out.

This is an outdoor car park with no stated maximum headroom, unlike multi-storey P1, P2 and P5, which are capped at 2.0 m. If you drive a van, SUV with a box on top, or a higher camper, P3 is the budget pick that still fits vehicles too tall for the structures closer to the terminal.

The airport groups P3 with P6 and P7 in the same low-cost pricing category, which usually undercuts the multi-storey and premium zones by several euros per day. You pay for a short walk and open-air spaces instead of covered parking and a slightly shorter route to T1 check-in.

P3 uses standard airport payment options: you take a ticket on entry at the barrier and pay at the on-site machines before you exit, with day prices clearly posted in euros. Prebooking via the Dortmund Airport website can lock in lower rates than drive-up, especially during school holidays when P1 and P2 fill early.

There are no frequent complaints flagged about P3 in regular reviews, and the lack of a height limit is repeatedly listed by the airport as a key feature. The trade-off is exposure to weather, so in winter you’re brushing snow off the car instead of rolling straight out of a garage.

Tip: if you’re driving anything over 2.0 m tall and want official on-airport parking at the lowest daily bracket, filter for P3 in the DTM online booking tool before you set off.
