P2

Short-term Parking

P2 trades a slightly longer walk for a cheaper daily rate

P2 sits on-airport at Dortmund (T1), with a daily price below P1, so you save a bit if you don’t mind walking a few extra minutes to the terminal. It’s signed as a short-term car park, but many people still leave cars here for several days to keep costs below P1 while staying closer than the long-term lots.

This is a multi-storey, covered facility with a maximum vehicle height of 2.0 m. Anything taller than a standard SUV, plus cars with roof boxes or bike racks, risk not fitting under the barriers or in the ramps. If your car is close to 2.0 m on paper, measure with any attachments mounted before you commit to taking a ticket.

P2 operates 24 hours a day with entry, exit and pay stations available at any time, matching the early and late bank of flights at Dortmund Airport. Barriers are automated and usually move quickly, so late-night arrivals from T1 can still get out without hunting for staff or a manned booth.

Payment runs through the usual ticket + pay station system, with machines near the pedestrian exits from the multi-storey. You take a ticket on entry, pay at a station before walking back to your car, then have a short grace period to reach the exit barrier. Keep the ticket in your wallet, not on the dashboard, so you don’t lock yourself out at 04:30.

Practical tip: driving a tall van or anything with a roof box? Skip P2 and choose an open-air lot; the 2.0 m clearance is strict, not a suggestion.
