Coach parking

Hotel shuttles and tour buses usually stage in CAI’s Bus Parking Area

The Bus Parking Area at Cairo International Airport (CAI) mainly serves coaches, hotel shuttles, and pre-booked tour vans rather than walk-up passengers. It sits outside the main terminal fronts for Terminals 1, 2, 3, and the Seasonal terminal, so you’re not parking your own car here. If your hotel or tour says “meet the bus in the car park” or “coach park,” this is the zone they mean.

You reach the bus and coach parking only after exiting the terminal building and crossing the access roads; it’s outside security and a few minutes’ walk from arrivals in T1, T2, or T3. There are no check-in desks, no ticket counters, and usually no clear signs in English explaining which coach is which. Think of it as a staging lot where drivers wait between runs rather than a passenger hub.

Several FlyerTalk reports mention paying around US$20 for a private car from CAI into central Cairo instead of using the official airport shuttle bus. The public shuttle’s schedule and exact stops are hard to verify, and frequent flyers openly call it unreliable. If a hotel or tour operator offers to meet you by private car or van in the coach/car park, most regulars say take that option and skip the shuttle.

Wi‑Fi effectively stops once you leave the terminal buildings, so don’t count on free airport Wi‑Fi in the Bus Parking Area itself. One day‑tour review specifically warns that drivers “usually pick you up at one of the carparks” and that you need mobile data to coordinate because there’s no stable signal outside. Regulars swap WhatsApp locations over LTE or eSIM and agree a fixed price with the driver in advance.

Watch out for anyone at arrivals trying to steer you toward a vague “airport bus” without clear pricing or destination; FlyerTalk posters flag this as a recipe for stress. If your ride is using the Bus Parking Area, get their plate number and a pin for the exact waiting spot before you land, then turn on data as soon as you clear customs so you’re not wandering the coach lot guessing which bus is yours.
