Tickets here start around COP 10,000 for nearby towns

Intermunicipal Buses Portal El Dorado links Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport (T1 and T2) with cities and towns in Cundinamarca and beyond, with typical fares from about COP 10,000–25,000 depending on distance. Services run throughout the day, with most departures concentrated between 05:00 and 21:00, so early-morning and late-evening arrivals may find fewer options.

The buses use a ground-transport hub often called “Portal El Dorado,” a few minutes’ drive from both T1 and T2, not directly outside baggage claim. Expect a 5–15 minute transfer by taxi, app ride (DiDi, Uber, Cabify), or SITP feeder from the terminals to the portal. Build at least a 30–40 minute buffer from landing to bus departure time to clear immigration, collect bags, and reach the bus area.

Most intermunicipal vehicles here are full-size coaches with 40–50 seats and underfloor luggage holds, but some shorter routes use 20–30 seat minibuses. Seats are usually first-come, first-served once you have a ticket, and luggage handling is manual, so tag your main bag and keep valuables in a small carry-on. Typical ride times from Portal El Dorado range from 45 minutes to nearby satellite towns up to 3–4 hours for farther destinations.

Tickets are sold at small company kiosks at the portal, each with posted destinations and timetables in Spanish, and many accept both cash and card. On busy days like Friday evenings or holiday weekends, departures to popular destinations can fill 1–2 hours ahead, so arriving at the portal at least 60 minutes before your target departure helps. Keep your passport handy, as some operators ask for ID when issuing tickets tied to specific seats or manifests.

Returning to the airport from an out-of-town stay, most passengers ride to Portal El Dorado first, then connect by taxi or app ride back to T1 or T2; plan 20–30 extra minutes for this last leg. Traffic on Avenida El Dorado (Calle 26) can slow to 10–15 km/h in peak rush (around 07:00–09:00 and 16:30–19:00), so pad your schedule accordingly. One practical tip: buy a cheap local SIM or eSIM at T1, then confirm your bus bay and last-minute schedule changes online or by phone while you’re en route to the portal.
