10–15 minutes after landing, DiDi cars usually reach T1
DiDi works across Bogotá, including direct pickups at El Dorado International Airport (BOG) Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The app runs on iOS and Android, and you pay in Colombian pesos by card or cash, depending on your profile setup. Most city-center rides from BOG to Chapinero or Zona Rosa fall in the COP 25,000–45,000 range, depending on time of day and traffic.
Pickup for international arrivals in T1 is outside the main arrivals hall at the public curb, roughly a 3–5 minute walk from baggage claim. There’s no dedicated rideshare lane; your driver meets you in the general passenger pickup area. In T2, expect a shorter walk, around 2–3 minutes, from the small arrivals area to the curb.
DiDi operates 24/7 in Bogotá, but late-night rides between 23:00 and 05:00 often show higher prices due to fewer drivers. A daytime trip from BOG to La Candelaria can take 25–40 minutes, while rush hour runs (07:00–09:00 and 16:30–19:30) can stretch to 60 minutes or more. Build the buffer if you’re heading back for an evening departure.
When you request a ride, double-check the license plate in the app against the car at the curb; Bogotá plates use three letters and three numbers, like “ABC123.” DiDi shows the driver’s name, car model, and plate before pickup, and you can share your trip with a contact in-app. Fares show an estimate in COP before you confirm, and many rides finish within COP 2,000–3,000 of that estimate unless traffic spikes.
For payment, DiDi supports local cards and often cash, but some foreign cards don’t always work cleanly. If your international card fails, set cash as the method and pay the driver directly in COP; ATMs in T1 arrivals sit about 50–70 meters from the main doors. Tipping is not mandatory in Bogotá rideshare culture, though rounding up by COP 1,000–2,000 on longer airport runs is common.
Practical tip: order your DiDi only after you exit customs and reach the sidewalk; drivers at BOG can’t wait long at the curb, and a 5–7 minute delay often triggers cancellations.
