Relay

Near BLQ T1 departures, Relay is the main newsstand stop

Relay sits airside in Terminal 1 after security, so you can grab last-minute basics without backtracking. It’s the standard airport mix: newspapers, magazines, paperbacks and travel guides, plus snacks and drinks for the gate. Prices run higher than downtown Bologna, but in line with other Italian airports for bottled water, candy, and phone accessories.

The shop focuses on Italian and some English-language titles, including glossy magazines you won’t find at every small kiosk in town. You’ll also see travel-friendly stationery, pens, and simple tech items like charging cables and earbuds, which can save a delayed evening at BLQ. Expect quick in-and-out service; staff are used to people timing purchases to boarding calls from T1 gates.

Relay also carries basic travel essentials: small toiletries, tissues, umbrellas, and neck pillows that work for short hops to Rome as well as longer flights via hubs like Frankfurt or Paris. Snack options skew toward packaged sweets and chips, with a few grab-and-go baked items depending on time of day. It’s the place you hit when you realise at 06:30 that your reusable water bottle is empty and the café line is already deep.

Plan one short stop here after security in T1, right before you head to your gate, so you’re not juggling books, snacks, and boarding pass all over the terminal.
