Pharmacy

Gate-side meds run at T1

This Pharmacy sits airside in Terminal T1, after security and before the main Schengen gates, so you can sort prescriptions or small ailments without backtracking landside. It’s a standard Italian airport chemist: shelves of over-the-counter meds, some toiletries, and a small baby-care corner squeezed into a compact footprint.

Opening hours typically track the first and last departures of the day, roughly 06:00 to around 21:00, but it can close a bit earlier on slower evenings, so don’t leave urgent buys to the last 10 minutes before boarding. Staff usually handle both Italian and basic English, which helps if you’re trying to explain a headache, allergies, or stomach issues on a quick layover.

Expect basic painkillers and cold remedies in the €5–€12 range, plus travel-size hygiene items around €3–€6. Prescription handling follows Italian rules, so strong meds need an EU-style script; a US printout often does not work. You’ll also see standard airport markups, so buying contact lens solution or sunscreen here costs a couple of euros more than in central Bologna.

There’s usually just one counter open, which means a short queue of 3–5 people can form right after a Ryanair wave boards from nearby gates. Lines move faster if you already know the exact product name or have it written down on your phone.

Practical tip: if you need something specific before an early flight, stop here immediately after clearing security in T1, before you get drawn into food or duty free and lose track of time.
