Single ALSA coach gets you from BCN to Girona or Lleida
ALSA runs intercity coaches from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport to cities like Girona, Lleida, Zaragoza, and others, with most departures grouped around daytime and early evening hours. Services usually run from roughly 07:00 to 22:00, but exact times change by season and route, so check your specific city and day. Coaches use both T1 and T2 stops depending on route, so note the terminal printed on your booking before you start walking. Tickets are sold in euros and priced by distance, often under €20–€30 for common airport routes.
At T1, ALSA coaches pick up outside the arrivals level near the long-distance bus area, a 3–5 minute walk from the main baggage carousels. At T2, the stop sits by the public bus bays between T2B and T2C, roughly a 2–4 minute walk from the arrivals doors. Look for coaches with a white ALSA logo and a digital front display listing the end city, for example “Girona” or “Lleida.” If you land in T1 but your ticket shows a T2 departure, the free green terminal shuttle bus between T1 and T2 usually takes 10–15 minutes including the wait.
You can buy ALSA tickets online in advance with a QR code, at ALSA machines in the terminal when available, or directly from the driver if seats remain, often paying a couple of euros more last minute. Most ALSA coaches used at BCN have underfloor luggage compartments that easily fit full-size 23 kg checked bags, plus overhead racks for smaller 8–10 kg cabin bags. Seats are assigned on most routes, with numbers printed on your ticket, and travel times to cities like Girona or Lleida often land between 60 and 120 minutes from the airport depending on traffic.
One practical tip: build at least a 45–60 minute buffer between your scheduled landing time and your ALSA departure, especially if you land at T1 and need to cross to T2 on the free shuttle. If your flight into BCN lands after 21:00, check that there is a coach after your arrival; the last ALSA service to some cities can leave around 22:00–23:00. If you miss the final coach, you’ll be looking at the R2 Nord train or Rodalies plus a regional bus from Barcelona city instead of a direct airport pickup.
