AED 4 gets you from AUH into Abu Dhabi on K4

The K4 bus runs 24/7 between Zayed International Airport (Terminal A) and parts of Abu Dhabi city for a flat AED 4. You pay with the standard Abu Dhabi bus ticketing system, so have small bills or a topped-up card ready before you board. For late arrivals after midnight, this route is one of the few public options still running out of AUH.

From Terminal A, follow arrivals signage to the public bus stands, then look for the stop marked for K4. The stop sits outside the terminal building, past the taxi rank, so add 5–10 minutes of walking if you land at a far gate. Buses on K4 use standard city vehicles with front-door boarding and payment near the driver.

The K4 timetable runs 24 hours, with headways that usually beat waiting for a rideshare queue in peak times. There is no published journey time because traffic around Abu Dhabi can swing heavily between off-peak and rush hours, so build a buffer of at least 30 extra minutes if you have a connection back at Terminal A. If you’re landing during the morning rush, assume stop-and-go traffic near the city.

At AED 4 per ride, K4 undercuts taxis from Zayed International Airport by a huge margin. A typical taxi into town starts around AED 70–100 depending on distance and traffic, so one bus trip is the price of a bottle of water airside in Terminal A. That saving adds up fast if you’re heading into the city and back again within a day or two.

There is no reserved luggage space on K4 beyond the usual floor area, so if you’re rolling a 23 kg checked suitcase plus a carry-on, board early and keep to the rear to stay out of the way. Seats fill first near the front of the bus; if you’re carrying only a backpack or cabin bag, you’ll have an easier time getting settled quickly.

One practical tip: grab cash or sort your bus card before leaving Terminal A arrivals, so you’re not fumbling for AED 4 at the curb while the K4 driver waits.
