Bus A2 runs 24/7 from Zayed International Airport’s Terminal A into Abu Dhabi city for a flat AED 4, paid with a Hafilat card or contactless option at the driver’s machine. The stop sits outside Terminal A arrivals; follow the official bus signs once you clear customs and walk 2–5 minutes to the curbside stands marked for city buses.

The official schedule lists A2 as a 24-hour service, but headways shift by time of day, so late-night and early-morning departures can bunch more than midday. Fares stay at AED 4 per ride, so this is still the cheapest public transport option out of AUH compared with taxis that often start around AED 20–25 just on the meter before distance charges.

Because A2 is a city bus, allow extra time versus a taxi run that might take 25–35 minutes into central Abu Dhabi traffic-dependent. There’s no published journey time guarantee on A2, and buses may stop frequently along the route, so don’t pair this with a tight onward connection or a hotel dinner booking pinned to the minute.

At the stop outside Terminal A, look specifically for the route panel showing “A2” and confirm the direction with the driver before tapping your AED 4 fare. Buses use standard front-door boarding, luggage comes on with you rather than in a separate hold, and there’s no seat reservation system; if a bus is full, you stand until seats open.

There’s no on-board toilet on A2 and air conditioning settings can run cold, even at 02:00, so plan a restroom stop inside Terminal A before heading to the stand and keep a light layer handy. The fare remains AED 4 regardless, so grabbing water or snacks in arrivals doesn’t change the transport cost, only your comfort on the ride.

Practical tip: Load or buy your Hafilat card in Terminal A arrivals before walking out; hunting for top-up machines after midnight at the curb is the fastest way to miss an A2 departure and add 20–30 minutes to your exit.
