No contract lounge currently operates at Aracaju’s T1 terminal

Right now there is no functioning Independent Lounge or any other contract lounge in Aracaju – Santa Maria Airport, Terminal T1, despite what some older listings suggest. Recent checks across Google Maps, Reddit’s r/brazil, and general travel forums all show only regular gate seating and café options airside, with nothing offering typical lounge-style access via day pass or lounge memberships.

All passenger traffic at AJU runs through a single building signed as Terminal 1 (T1), and every departure uses that same terminal. Because there is just the one hall, any Independent Lounge would have to sit either before security in the public check-in area or after security near the domestic gates, but travellers reporting from 2023–2025 confirm they see only standard boarding areas and a few food counters once past the scanners.

The only advertised access model for the so-called Independent Lounge is “day pass,” but there is no posted price at AJU, and no airline at Santa Maria Airport currently sells lounge vouchers at the check-in desks. Travellers flying Gol, Azul, or LATAM from T1 report paying directly at cafés and snack bars instead, usually R$10–R$20 for coffee and around R$30–R$50 for a simple meal, which matches what you should budget as a lounge substitute.

Searches on Reddit and Brazilian travel blogs between 2022 and 2025 turn up zero first-hand reviews, photos, or check-in screenshots for any Independent Lounge at AJU. In contrast, the same sources show plenty of images of the small departures hall, the single security checkpoint, and the standard plastic and metal seating near the boarding gates in T1, which strongly suggests that any lounge mentioned in older directories either never opened or closed quietly.

Plan on spending your pre-flight time in the public areas of Terminal 1 and at the regular gates instead of hunting for the Independent Lounge. Arrive 90 minutes before a domestic departure from AJU T1, clear security, then walk the full airside hall once; if you don’t see a staffed lounge door with clear pricing by the gates, assume it does not exist that day and buy food or drinks from the visible cafés instead.
