No Centurion Lounge at AJU, even for Centurion cards
At Aracaju’s Santa Maria Airport (AJU) in Terminal T1, there is no American Express Centurion Lounge at all, despite the lounge being listed in some aggregator apps. Even Centurion and Platinum cardholders with global lounge collections need to fall back on standard terminal seating and whatever pay-per-use facilities the airport itself offers.
All departures at AJU run through T1, so there’s no “other terminal” workaround and no hidden satellite space with Amex branding. The official American Express lounge locator page shows no Centurion Lounge for Aracaju, and none of the big lounge blogs list AJU in their Centurion network rundowns.
Access rules don’t help here either: your Amex Centurion or Platinum card that gets you into Centurion Lounges in GRU, GIG, MEX or DFW does not unlock any special space in AJU T1. You’re limited to on-field options like basic cafés near the gates and standard rows of metal seats along the small departures corridor.
Hours are another constraint: AJU’s T1 usually runs on a domestic bank pattern tied to flights, so concessions only stay open around scheduled departures, unlike Centurion Lounges that often keep roughly 05:00–22:00 hours. If you land late on an Azul flight after 23:00, expect shuttered shops and just the main seating area, with no staffed lounge to retreat to.
Pricing also reflects the lack of a premium lounge: instead of complimentary hot food and bar service you’d see in a normal Centurion Lounge with buffet spreads and made-to-order drinks, you’re paying cash or card at regular airport prices for each espresso, water, or snack at the few counters in T1. Budget around R$10–R$15 for a coffee and R$20–R$30 for a basic sandwich at current Brazilian airport rates.
Practical tip: eat and charge devices in town or at your hotel before heading to AJU T1, then arrive about 75–90 minutes before departure, treating the airport as a simple gatehold rather than a place to log a long Centurion Lounge session.
