Grill Express

Gate-side grill option before regional flights

Grill Express sits airside in Terminal T1 at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, a short walk from several West African regional gates. It runs through main daytime banks, typically open from around 06:00 until late evening, so you can grab something hot even on early departures. Seating is basic counter-style with a few tables, so think quick stop more than lingering meal.

The menu leans on simple grilled meats and snacks at mid-range airport prices, roughly 3,000–8,000 CFA for most plates. You’ll usually see chicken, fish, and skewers on rotation, with sides like fries or rice. Portions run on the generous side compared with some other ABJ options, so one main can easily tide you over for a 4–5 hour flight.

Payment is straightforward: they accept cash in CFA francs and typically at least one major card network, which helps if you just landed and haven’t hit an ATM yet. Since it’s post-security in T1, it works well if you’re flying Air Côte d’Ivoire or other regional carriers departing from that terminal and don’t want to go back landside to hunt for food.

Service speed depends heavily on timing. In the 10:00–13:00 and 18:00–21:00 banks, expect a 10–20 minute wait for grilled dishes, a bit less if you stick to pre-prepared snacks. If you’re tight on time with boarding starting in under 30 minutes, focus on skewers or anything already under the heat lamps instead of made-to-order plates.

One practical tip: ABJ security sometimes opens liquids during checks, so buy your drink at Grill Express after screening. Grab a bottle of water or soda with your plate here, then head straight to your gate in T1 to avoid backtracking through the concourse.
