T2

T2’s Local Crafts Store sits across from the main check-in

You see Local Crafts Store as soon as you walk into T2, just off the central check-in area and before the smaller food kiosks. It focuses on Namibia-made souvenirs rather than generic “Africa” trinkets, so you actually get place-specific gifts tied to Windhoek and the wider country.

Everything here is post-check-in but pre-security, so factor in the extra 10–15 minutes you’ll still need to clear screening for outbound flights. Prices run higher than Windhoek city shops: think around NAD 120–250 for small carved animals, NAD 60–90 for magnets or keyrings, and NAD 250–500 for hand-painted textiles or beadwork.

Quality varies by item: the hand-carved wooden pieces and woven baskets feel solid and are the safer buy, while some screen-printed T-shirts near the back rail look thin for the NAD 300–350 price tag. If you want something quick, the smaller bead bracelets by the counter come in under NAD 100 and pack flat in a carry-on.

Card payment works with major networks like Visa and Mastercard, though staff occasionally warn that bank terminals get patchy signal in the late afternoon peak between 14:00 and 17:00. Have some Namibian dollars as backup if your connection home leaves during that window.

Best move: walk in with a rough budget in mind and pick one or two higher-quality pieces instead of filling a bag with cheaper knick-knacks. Then head to security once you’ve got your last gift—T2 isn’t big, but lines can still chew up 20 minutes before boarding at WDH.
