Venice Marco Polo Airport, second floor, after security checks, before passport control for the Extra-Schengen area, Viale Galileo Galilei 30, 30173 Venezia VE, Italy

€40 at the door gets you into the main lounge at VCE

The Marco Polo Lounge in T1 runs daily from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm, and it’s the primary contract lounge for Venice. It sits upstairs after duty free, before passport control, so both Schengen and non‑Schengen passengers can use it. Priority Pass works here, or you can just pay the walk‑up €40 fee at reception.

You reach the lounge by heading past duty free in Terminal 1 and taking the escalator up to the first floor. Signage points to “Marco Polo Club” and the lounge entrance sits before the passport control booths, which is useful if your non‑Schengen gate later moves. Build at least 10 extra minutes into your schedule for the up‑and‑down detour from the main departures level.

Space is the main win: this is a surprisingly large room by VCE standards, with a long main seating area plus a winter‑garden style section that feels more open than the main terminal. Out on the terrace you look over the lagoon and, on clear days, you can actually see St Mark’s Campanile in the distance. It’s still a single contract lounge, so expect crowds in peak morning and late‑afternoon bank.

Food is standard European contract lounge fare: cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, basic snacks, and usually one or two hot items; nothing here justifies timing your day around it. Coffee comes from self‑serve machines, and there are fridges with soft drinks, beer, and a couple of wines. If you care more about a proper sit‑down meal, keep expectations lower than a decent trattoria in town and treat this as a pre‑flight snack stop only.

For working, the useful bit is the set of work cubbies tucked away from the main seating area. Regulars head straight there when the central room fills, since you get a little privacy and usually a power outlet within reach. Wi‑Fi is free and typically fine for email and calls, but don’t count on flawless video if the lounge is busy.

On access, FlyerTalk regulars complain that the pricing and access program feel like a bit of a joke after recent changes, especially at the €40 walk‑up rate. Some still buy it when they need the bundled fast‑track security lane as well, which can easily save 20–30 minutes in high season. If security lines look short from the terminal floor, most of those same people skip paying and just use Priority Pass or sit gate‑side.

Practical tip: if you’re on a non‑Schengen flight, hit this lounge before passport control, then leave at least 20 minutes for exit checks and the walk to the gate.
