€40 at VCE buys you the Marco Polo Lounge terrace
In T1’s main terminal Schengen area, the Marco Polo Lounge keeps the same “Club” identity as the airport’s flagship space, but here the draw is airside terrace access and easy entry via Priority Pass, airline invitations, or a €40 walk-up day pass at the desk.
This lounge sits past security in the Schengen zone of Venice Marco Polo, so you need to clear passport control separately if you’re on a non-Schengen flight out of T1 and want to use it before heading to your actual gate.
Reports on FlyerTalk say that paying the €40 walk-up fee has in some cases included use of the fast-track security lane, which makes more sense if you plan to arrive at least 60–90 minutes before departure instead of sprinting to the gate.
Inside, the lounge is “surprisingly large” by Italian regional standards, with seating zones spreading along the windows, but several travelers note it gets busy in peak morning and late-afternoon banks when multiple Schengen departures leave within the same 60-minute window.
Food is basic: think pastries at breakfast, simple sandwiches later in the day, and packaged snacks rather than hot buffet dishes, so don’t plan on a full meal here unless a croissant and a ham-and-cheese sandwich count as lunch for you.
Drinks run through a staffed bar with alcohol service, including standard Italian wines and spirits, alongside self-serve soft drinks and coffee machines, which makes it more attractive for a quick spritz or prosecco than for anyone hunting for a premium gin lineup.
The non-smoking outdoor terrace is the real differentiator, giving you fresh air and lagoon views that you won’t get at most Schengen lounges, and regulars head straight out there when the main indoor seating feels crowded and noisy.
Complaints focus on value: some FlyerTalk users feel that €40 is steep for cold food and bar drinks, especially when the lounge is crowded, so that fee only pencils out if you use the fast track plus spend at least an hour inside.
Practical tip: if you’re paying at the door, ask explicitly at check-in whether the day pass currently includes priority security and only swipe your card once you’ve confirmed what’s bundled for your €40.
