Cosmetics and Perfumes

Gate-side duty free prices beat downtown more often than not

In Terminal 1 at Taipei Songshan, Cosmetics and Perfumes sits airside after security, so you can shop right up until boarding. It runs on typical airport hours, roughly matching the first and last flights of the day, so you’ll usually find it open from around 06:00 to 22:00. This is the main spot in T1 for duty free beauty, sitting between other small retail units rather than in a big mall-style zone.

Brands here focus on East Asian and global travel staples: expect major Korean and Japanese skincare labels alongside international perfume and makeup names that you’d normally see in a downtown department store. Duty free pricing often undercuts city counters by around 10–20%, especially on boxed skincare sets and larger fragrance bottles. Stock skews toward bestsellers rather than niche lines, so come with specific SKUs in mind if you’re picky.

Most items sit in the mid to high price bracket, with smaller travel-size skincare starting near NT$300–500 and full-size fragrance easily clearing NT$2,000. Staff usually run short-term promotions like “buy 2, save X%,” which can make sense for refills of toner, essence, or sunscreen. The shop is compact, so you can loop it in under 10 minutes on the way to your gate if you already know your brand and product.

Lines are typically short compared with Taoyuan’s duty free, but last-minute tour groups can still clog the counters close to banked departures. If you want time to compare prices or test shades, walk over right after clearing T1 security and leave payment for the last 5–10 minutes before boarding.
