Metered Taxi Service at Tampa International Airport (TPA) runs from the Ground Transportation Center at the Main Terminal, with cabs queued 24 hours a day. You reach them by taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1 from any terminal transfer point. This is the standard yellow-cab option, not a flat-rate shuttle or rideshare pickup.
The meters run on regulated Hillsborough County taxi rates, so you pay by distance and time instead of a preset airport fare. That means a short 10-minute ride to nearby Westshore hotels usually costs less than a longer 25–30 minute run toward downtown Tampa or Ybor City. Taxis pick up on Level 1 of the Main Terminal, in the Ground Transportation Center where you also see rental cars and some shuttles. From the airsides, you first take the automated people mover back to the Main Terminal, then follow Ground Transportation signs down one level. This adds about 5–10 minutes before you even reach the taxi queue.
You do not pay a separate airport access fee on top of the metered taxi fare at TPA; whatever shows on the meter plus an optional tip is the full price from the airport curb to your destination. Some drivers accept credit cards with an in-car terminal, but you should confirm before the ride and have cash as a backup for older cabs.

One practical tip: if you land late, after 23:00, taxis still operate at TPA, but lines at the Ground Transportation Center can build when several flights land together, so factor in an extra 10–15 minutes before you reach your hotel.
