Ride App Pickup (Uber/Lyft)

Rideshare

Rideshare Service fee of $5.00 added to fare

$5 airport fee tags onto every Uber and Lyft trip from TPA

Rideshare pickup at Tampa International Airport runs through the Main Terminal, and every trip leaving the airport includes a $5.00 service fee on top of the in-app fare. That fee shows in the app before you confirm, so you see the full cost before you commit.

When your flight lands at the Main Terminal, follow signs for “Ground Transportation / Ride App Pickup” after baggage claim, then head to the rideshare zone indicated for Uber and Lyft in the app. The app will list the exact pickup level and zone letter, and your driver only waits at that marked ride app area, not at the terminal curb used by private cars or hotel shuttles.

Order your ride in the Uber or Lyft app only after you reach the signed Ride App Pickup area at the Main Terminal, or you risk burning 5–10 minutes of your driver’s waiting time while you walk from your gate. Surge pricing sometimes stacks with the flat $5.00 airport fee, so watch the price estimate for a minute if it looks unusually high.

Shared rides, premium options, and XL vehicles all pick up in the same Ride App zone at the Main Terminal; the only difference is the fare and that fixed $5.00 surcharge. If the app shows a long ETA, compare the wait against a taxi from the same Ground Transportation area, since taxis at TPA do not always carry the same app-based airport fees.

One practical tip: add the Main Terminal Ride App Pickup point as a saved place in your Uber or Lyft profile before you fly, so when you land at TPA you can request a car with two taps and avoid fumbling with the map while standing at the curb with luggage.
