Short-Term Parking

Surface lot

Daily parking sits directly in front of Terminal 1

Short-Term Parking at Toncontín Airport is the surface lot right in front of the Terminal 1 departures and arrivals doors. You park within a 2–4 minute walk of check-in counters, which works well for drop-offs, quick business trips, or meeting arriving passengers.

This is a ground-level, open-air surface lot with marked spaces for standard cars and SUVs. There is no height restriction bar, but oversized vehicles can find maneuvering tight during peak morning bank departures between 05:00 and 08:00. Lighting stays on overnight, and airport security patrols pass by the lot during their regular rounds.

Payment is handled at on-site pay machines and exit booths, with rates calculated by the hour and capped at a daily maximum. Staff typically accepts Honduran lempiras in cash; some travelers also report using cards, but plan on cash as your backup. Keep your ticket dry and unbent, since lost tickets are charged at the full daily rate.

The lot serves short-stay needs best: same-day pickups, 1–2 day trips, or dropping a car while you go inside to assist with luggage and check-in. For longer trips of a week or more, locals often shift to off-airport options in Tegucigalpa to keep costs down, then take a taxi the 5–15 minutes to the terminal.

One practical tip: arrivals traffic at Toncontín gets tight in the narrow approach road, especially around afternoon international arrivals between 13:00 and 16:00. If you’re picking someone up, enter the Short-Term Parking lot 15–20 minutes before their scheduled landing, park, and walk to the arrivals hall instead of circling in the lane.
