Long-Term Parking

Surface lot

Daily rates here usually beat nearby private lots

Toncontín Airport’s Long-Term Parking is a basic surface lot sitting directly in front of Terminal 1, so you can usually walk from your car to check-in in under 5 minutes. It’s the default choice for trips longer than a couple of days, with pricing set by the airport and generally lower than off-airport garages that add shuttle time and tips.

This is an open-air lot with standard marked spaces, not covered parking, so expect your car to sit in the Tegucigalpa sun and afternoon rain. Because it’s on airport property, you’re inside the security perimeter and within sight of the main building for most of the walk. For early morning flights around 05:00–07:00, having your car this close can shave real time off your departure routine.

Payment typically runs on a per-hour rate that caps at a daily maximum, making it workable for 3–7 day trips before private long-stay options start to compete. Keep some local currency ready; smaller Latin American airports still sometimes have issues with card readers or change for larger bills. Check the posted tariff board at the lot entrance before you pull in so you know your ceiling for a week.

Security is basic: perimeter fencing, airport lighting, and passive oversight from airport staff moving around Terminal 1. Don’t expect valet-style checks, covered walkways, or cameras in every lane. Standard rules apply here: remove anything worth more than about L500 from sight, and avoid leaving luggage in the car overnight before an early flight.

Pro tip: for departures between 09:00 and 16:00, show up at least 30 minutes earlier than planned, as the lot can fill and you may need a few extra loops to find a space close to the terminal doors.
