Daily rates stay low at the Main Parking Lot
The Main Parking Lot sits directly in front of Terminal 1 at Toncontín Airport (TGU), so you walk 2–4 minutes from your car to the check-in doors. It’s a basic surface lot with open-air spaces and simple lane markings, nothing multi-level or covered. If you’re dropping someone for a 06:00 flight, pulling into this lot is faster than circling the terminal road more than once.
Parking operates 24 hours a day in line with the airport’s early-morning and late-evening departures, and you pay on exit at the onsite booth near the main vehicle gate. Rates are set per hour with a capped daily maximum; watch the posted tariff at the entrance barrier for the current lempira amounts before you pull a ticket. Keep your paper ticket dry, because the booth scanner sometimes struggles with torn or folded ones.
The lot is fully inside the airport perimeter fence and lies less than 300 meters from the main security checkpoint in Terminal 1. There’s no dedicated pedestrian bridge, so you walk on marked sidewalks along the access road. If you land after 21:00, the walk back to your car is still short enough that you don’t need to factor in shuttle wait times or extra transfers.
You won’t find covered parking, EV chargers, or reserved premium bays here; every space is open to sun and rain. During weekday mornings around 05:00–08:00, the front rows near the terminal doors fill first, and late arrivals usually end up closer to the outer fence line. In the rainy season, avoid the very edge of the gravel sections where puddles form after storms.
Practical tip: if you’re parking longer than 24 hours, park one or two rows deeper, snap a quick photo of your row number or a nearby sign, and keep your ticket tucked with your passport so you don’t lose it before you reach the exit booth.
