Gate-side books in T2 if you forgot your read

This plain “Bookshop” sits airside in Terminal T2 at Sofia Airport, handy if you clear security and realize your Kindle is dead. Stock leans heavily to Bulgarian-language titles, but you’ll usually find some English paperbacks and travel guides on a central stand. Expect standard airport pricing, roughly a few leva above city bookstores for bestsellers and magazines.

Opening hours track most departures in T2, typically from early morning bank of flights around 05:00 until the late evening wave, though it may close between quieter gaps. Besides books, they carry newspapers, a small rack of international magazines, sudoku and crossword books, and basic stationery like pens, notebooks, and envelopes. It’s useful if you need a quick notebook for meetings in the city.

Stock is compact: think one small shop, not a giant bookstore, so don’t count on finding very niche titles or specific authors in English. Children’s books and coloring books sit on a lower shelf near the entrance, and there’s usually at least one rotating stand of postcards with “Sofia” and “Bulgaria” shots. Prices for postcards and simple souvenirs hover in the 2–6 BGN range.

Selection is strongest in the hours right after the first big wave of flights, then gets picked over by evening departures. If you’re picky about what you read on board, walk by Bookshop soon after you enter T2’s airside zone, not as your row is boarding.
