Gate-side burgers in T2

This McDonald's sits in Terminal T2 at Sofia Airport, a few minutes’ walk from most Schengen gates, so you can grab a Big Mac and still keep an eye on your boarding time. It’s fully post-security, so you don’t need to factor in an extra checkpoint once you’ve ordered.

Opening hours track the flight banks, with early-morning service starting before 06:00 on most days and running into the late evening when there are departures after 21:00. If you land late into T2, this is often one of the last hot-food options still serving anything beyond sandwiches and packaged snacks.

Prices run a bit higher than downtown Sofia, with combo meals typically a couple of leva more than in the city, but still cheaper than many sit-down spots in the terminal. Expect standard McDonald’s Bulgaria items: Big Mac, McChicken, McNuggets, and local promos that rotate every few months, plus the usual fries and desserts.

Service pace matches airport traffic: during the 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00 departure waves, the line can stretch 10–15 people deep, but orders still usually come out in under 10 minutes. Outside those peaks, you can be in and out with a burger and drink in under 5–7 minutes, which works for tight connections inside T2.

Breakfast runs into late morning, generally until around 10:30, with the classic Egg McMuffin-style items and coffee that’s cheaper than many nearby cafés. If you have kids in tow, Happy Meal toys change regularly and sometimes match regional promotions you’ll see advertised across Bulgaria.

Tip: check the overhead departure boards just across from T2’s main food area before you queue, then carry your tray to a table facing your gate cluster so you can watch for “Go to gate” or boarding calls while you eat.
