Right after security in T2, Bar and Diner is your first sit-down option.
This spot sits airside in Terminal T2, a short walk from the main security checkpoint, so it works for almost any Sofia Airport departure from that terminal. It’s a basic bar-restaurant setup: counter seating near the drinks and a run of two- and four-top tables looking onto the concourse. You’re paying airport pricing, but it’s still Bulgaria, so a beer and a main usually land well under 25 BGN.
Bar and Diner runs through the main flight banks for T2, opening in the early morning to catch the 06:00–08:00 departures and usually staying open until the late evening departures around 22:00–23:00. That means you can grab an espresso and a pastry before a Ryanair or Wizz Air hop, or sit down for something heavier before an evening Lufthansa or Bulgaria Air flight.
The menu leans simple: think omelettes and sandwiches in the 8–15 BGN range, burgers and pasta as you get closer to 20–25 BGN, plus standard bar snacks like fries and mixed nuts. Coffee is by the cup, not the specialty third-wave kind, but drinkable and cheaper than what you’d see in Western Europe. Draft and bottled beers sit in the 5–10 BGN band, with local lagers featuring more than imports.
If you’re hungry, go for a hot main or a sandwich made to order instead of the pre-made pastries sitting in the glass case; turnover can be slow between the midday and late-afternoon banks, especially outside the 12:00–18:00 window. Spirits and mixed drinks are poured from standard labels behind the bar, and prices track closely with what you’d expect in a central Sofia hotel bar, just with the airport markup baked in.
Tip: seats fill fastest about 60–90 minutes before the big evening departures bank, so if you want a proper table rather than barstools, grab one right after you clear T2 security.
