Trains leave the airport station about every 15 minutes

TRAX Green Line is UTA’s light rail route linking Salt Lake City International Airport’s Terminal to downtown in about 20 minutes. The airport station sits at the far east end of the terminal, next to the short-term parking garage, and is signed as “TRAX/Green Line” on overhead airport wayfinding.

A one-way adult fare on TRAX Green Line is usually around $2.50, and you can buy tickets or reload a FAREPAY card at the ticket machines directly at the airport platform. Trains run roughly every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 15–30 minutes on evenings and weekends, with service starting around 4:30 a.m. and running past 11:30 p.m. most days.

The Green Line’s airport station is on the western end of the full TRAX route, which continues through downtown to West Valley. From the airport, most visitors ride five to seven stops to center-city stations like Temple Square, City Center, or Gallivan Plaza. Each of those downtown stops puts you within a few blocks of major hotels and offices along Main Street and South Temple.

Ticket machines at the airport accept credit and debit cards, and UTA also supports mobile tickets through the official UTA GoRide app, which can save a couple of minutes if a train is already approaching. Kids under a set age often ride free with a paying adult, but double-check current UTA rules, as those age limits and discounts shift from year to year.

Green Line trains have level boarding at the airport platform, which helps if you’re rolling a checked-size suitcase or pushing a stroller. Luggage space is basically open floor area near the doors rather than dedicated racks, so during peak commute times around 7–9 a.m. and 4–6 p.m., you may be standing with your bags for a few stops. The ride from the airport to Temple Square usually clocks in at just under 25 minutes, even with intermediate stops.

Service frequency can stretch closer to 30 minutes late at night, especially after 9:00 p.m., and schedules shift on Sundays and major holidays. Pull up the Green Line timetable on UTA’s site or trip planner before you land, then aim for a train that leaves 15–20 minutes after your scheduled arrival to give yourself a buffer for the walk from baggage claim to the platform.
