Most major SLC hotels run shuttles every 15–30 minutes

Salt Lake City International Airport sits about 6 miles from downtown, and many hotels within that radius run free shuttles to and from the Terminal. Check your hotel’s schedule in advance; typical wait times run 15–30 minutes, but some properties only send a van on request after 11 p.m. Always confirm if the ride is actually complimentary, since a few extended-stay spots near I‑80 charge a small fee per trip.

All hotel shuttles pick up on the ground level outside the main Terminal, usually in the same commercial lanes as rideshare and taxis. Follow the overhead signs for “Hotel Shuttles” after baggage claim on Level 1; it’s less than a 5‑minute indoor walk from the carousels to the pickup curb. If you’re arriving on Delta or Southwest, you’re already in the right building, since SLC uses a single Terminal for all airlines.

Most hotels within a 3–5 mile radius advertise 24/7 shuttle service, but the late-night window between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. can shift to “on demand only.” That usually means you need to call the front desk from the airport, using your cell or the courtesy phones near baggage claim, and the shuttle then takes 10–20 minutes to arrive. Build in extra time if you land during a snowstorm, since I‑80 and the airport loop can slow to 25–30 mph quickly.

Expect shared rides: a standard hotel shuttle at SLC seats 8–14 passengers and often serves multiple pickups or drop-offs along hotels on Admiral Byrd Road or North Temple Street. If you’re carrying oversized ski bags longer than 72 inches, ask the hotel if their van has a rear rack or trailer; some properties near the ski bus stops on 400 South send larger vehicles during the December–March rush. Tipping $2–$5 per person is common for in-town distances under 10 miles.

One practical move: confirm your shuttle pickup point and operating hours in your booking confirmation email before you fly, then save the hotel’s direct phone number in your phone so you’re not scrolling websites at baggage claim at 11:45 p.m.
