P2 sits beside Terminal 2, set up for long stays
P2 Parking Garage is the long-stay option next to Shanghai Hongqiao’s Terminal 2, so you’re parking directly on the airport campus rather than in an off-site lot. It’s a multi-level covered structure, so your car stays under a roof in Shanghai’s summer rain and winter cold. Payment follows the standard Hongqiao airport tariff for long-term parking, with daily caps rather than one flat weekly rate, so short trips of 2–4 days price out more efficiently than a two-week leave.
The garage links to T2 by pedestrian routes signed in English and Chinese, and you’re walking toward domestic and international check-in counters in under 10 minutes if you park on the terminal-facing side. Elevators serve every level of P2, which helps if you’re hauling two 23 kg checked bags or a stroller. Because it’s on the T2 side, it’s more useful for China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines departures than for T1-only domestic carriers.
Overnight parking in P2 is allowed, and the rate structure encourages multi-day use rather than quick 30-minute pickups, which fit better in the shorter-stay surface areas closer to the departure ramps. The garage uses ticketed entry and automated pay machines that accept Chinese bank cards and mobile payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay, so plan for local payment methods instead of foreign credit cards. Height limits apply at the entrance, which matters if you’re driving a taller SUV or van.
Tip: if you have an early-morning flight from T2, aim for a space on the lower floors of P2 nearest the terminal-side exits; that usually cuts your walk to check-in down to about 5–7 minutes, even with luggage.
