DFS Duty Free

Gate-side duty free in T2 keeps prices in USD

DFS Duty Free sits airside in Tan Son Nhat’s T2, after immigration and security for international departures. Shelves lean heavily toward liquor, cigarettes, perfume, and cosmetics, all ticketed primarily in USD, with VND shown on some tags. You’ll also see the usual travel chocolates and gift packs near the cashier. It’s one of the few spots in T2 where you can burn leftover dong on something recognizable before your flight out of SGN.

Most liquor bottles run in the US$25–70 range, with tobacco cartons often cheaper than downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Perfume and cosmetics track close to big-city department store pricing in Asia, so don’t expect deep outlet-style discounts. The walk from the main central seating area in T2 to DFS takes about 2–3 minutes, so you can pop in after your gate is announced without stressing the boarding call.

Selection skews big global brands: think Johnnie Walker, Chivas, Hennessy, Marlboro, plus the usual L’Oréal, Shiseido, and similar counters. Souvenir food is mostly standard travel chocolate blocks and tins; local Vietnamese items like coffee or specialty snacks are limited compared to shops in the public landside zone of SGN. If you care about local gifts under 200,000 VND, do that shopping before passport control instead of relying on DFS.

Lines spike about 45–30 minutes before departure when multiple widebodies out of T2 board at once, so pay first, then browse your gate area. One practical tip: check your airline’s alcohol allowance rules ex-SGN before you buy, and ask DFS staff to seal bottles in tamper-evident STEB bags if you have another security check on a connection.
