Book and Magazine Shop

T2

T2 airside books beat staring at the gate TV loop

In Tan Son Nhat’s international Terminal T2, the Book and Magazine Shop sits airside after security, so you can walk there in under 5–7 minutes from most gates. Stock skews toward mainstream English titles plus Vietnamese bestsellers, with paperbacks typically in the 150,000–300,000 VND range. You’ll also see the usual travel guides for Vietnam and Southeast Asia, handy if you skipped planning and now have a 3-hour layover.

Magazines lean heavy on regional lifestyle and aviation, with a smaller shelf of international titles; prices often run 10–20% higher than downtown Saigon newsstands. Children’s books and puzzle books sit near the front counter, so grabbing something to keep a 7-year-old busy at gate 20 doesn’t turn into a full browse session. Most staff handle basic English just fine, and card payments work, but have at least 100,000 VND in cash in case the terminal reader glitches.

The shop usually opens around the first outbound flights, roughly 05:00, and stays open until close to the last late-night departures, often near 23:00. Stock turnover isn’t lightning-fast, so don’t expect the very latest US or UK release week one, but you can reliably snag a recent crime novel or business paperback from the last 3–6 months. Tip: if you care about cover art or edition, check the back shelves; newer English imports tend to be shelved there, not in the front stacks.
