Opposite domestic gates in T1, Popeyes is your fast chicken fix
Popeyes in Tan Son Nhat’s Terminal T1 sits airside in the domestic departures hall, so you clear security first, then see the orange signage near several coffee kiosks. It runs through most of the day to match Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet peaks, usually opening around the first morning banks and staying open into late evening departures. If you want something recognizable before a short hop to Hanoi or Da Nang, this is one of the few global fast-food brands in T1.
Menu basics are standard Popeyes: fried chicken pieces, sandwiches, and sides like fries and coleslaw. Expect combo meals to land in the 120,000–180,000 VND range, which is mid-pack pricing for branded fast food in SGN. Portions run smaller than US outlets, so if you are hungry before a two-hour flight, size up to a larger combo instead of a single sandwich. Drinks include fountain sodas and bottled water, with upsell to larger cups for a small extra fee in VND.
Food comes up reasonably fast, usually under 10 minutes even when a Vietjet flight dumps a crowd just meters away. Seating is shared with the neighboring food court tables, so you may be circling for a chair during the 06:00–09:00 and 17:00–20:00 banks. If your boarding pass shows a remote stand departure, plan a few extra minutes since buses from T1 often start loading 25–30 minutes before departure time.
There is no table service at this T1 Popeyes; you order and pay at the counter, then wait for your number on a small screen above the fryers. Card payment in VND via major networks like Visa and Mastercard is generally accepted, but the terminals sometimes go offline, so keep at least 200,000 VND cash in reserve. Tip: if your gate is at the far end of T1, grab your food to go and walk down to the quieter seating clusters near the last 2–3 gates.
