Bus line E-11 runs from SAW to Kadıköy on the Asian side
The Public IETT E-11 city bus connects Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (Terminal T) with Kadıköy, running along the Asian shore. This is a regular municipal bus, not an airport coach, so it uses standard IETT fares and passes. You board outside the terminal building at the signed IETT stops used by several airport routes.
E-11 operates roughly from early morning to late evening, typically with intervals around 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. The ride from SAW to Kadıköy often takes 60–90 minutes in rush hour because it follows main arterial roads. Build the buffer if you have a train or ferry to catch from Kadıköy.
You pay on E-11 using an Istanbulkart or contactless payment accepted by IETT, at the same rate as other city routes. Fares are significantly lower than the airport Havabus coaches or taxis from SAW, especially for solo travelers. Tap at the onboard validators immediately after boarding through any door that is open.
The E-11 stop at Sabiha Gökçen sits a short walk from the arrivals exit of Terminal T, in the dedicated public bus area. Signs show route numbers like E-3, 16S, and E-11, so double-check the front LED display for “E-11 Kadıköy.” Buses can get crowded at peak times, with standing room only for parts of the 60+ minute ride.
On the city side, E-11 terminates in the Kadıköy district, a major hub with ferries, metro line M4, and many local buses numbered in the 10–20 ranges. From the last stop you can walk a few hundred meters to the Kadıköy ferry piers for European-side boats. This makes E-11 a budget link between SAW and central Istanbul routes.
Tip: Buy or load an Istanbulkart in the terminal or at the first machine you see before boarding, so you are not stuck paying a higher single contactless fare for every transfer after E-11.
