Regional bus services

Tickets start around standard regional fares from the SAW bus station

Intercity Coach Connections use the on-site bus terminal at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (terminal T) as their hub, linking SAW to cities across Türkiye by regional coach. Services operate on fixed timetables published by each company, so you need to check exact departure times for your route before you land or while you’re in the terminal.

The regional buses depart from the ground-side coach stands next to the main arrivals area of terminal T, so you do not need to pass through security to board. After exiting baggage claim, follow signs for "Bus/Coach" and walk 3–10 minutes depending on your carousel and how quickly you move with luggage.

Most Intercity Coach Connections routes run every 1–3 hours on main corridors, though late-night and very early-morning services may drop to just 1–2 departures in that window. For tight same-day connections between a flight and a long-distance bus, build at least a 90-minute buffer from scheduled landing to coach departure to cover passport control and baggage delays.

Tickets for regional buses are usually sold at dedicated coach company counters in the arrivals hall of terminal T or in small kiosks right beside the outdoor stands. Many operators accept payment by Turkish lira cash and major cards; some add a small fee of a few Turkish lira for last-minute, walk-up purchases versus online bookings.

Luggage usually rides in the underfloor hold, with drivers expecting you to tag or mark bags for longer sectors over 100 km. Hand luggage often stays with you inside the cabin, but bigger cabin-sized roller bags might also be placed below if the bus is busy on peak weekend or holiday departures.

Most Intercity Coach Connections services feed into major bus terminals such as those in Bursa, Ankara, or Izmit, where you can transfer to onward minibuses or city buses. Total travel time from SAW can range from under 60 minutes for closer towns to 4–6 hours or more for longer regional routes, depending on distance and highway traffic.

One practical tip: if your flight lands in the evening after 20:00, check the last coach of the day for your route before you travel, and have a backup plan such as staying near Sabiha Gökçen or using an airport taxi if the final bus departure window is tight.
