Prepaid SIM help next to gates in Terminal T
Türk Telekom in SAW’s Terminal T sits airside, past security, so you can sort your phone plan before boarding. It’s a quick stop if you’ve just landed domestically and need data set up before heading into Istanbul, or if you’re heading out and want to top up credit.
This is a telecom shop, not a full electronics store, so expect SIMs, eSIM help, and top-ups rather than laptops or cameras. Staff usually speak at least basic English and can register a foreign passport to a Turkish SIM, which is required under local law. That process takes a few minutes, so don’t show up with 5 minutes to boarding.
Pricing runs higher than in the city; figure tourist SIM packages at airport markups, with better value if you plan to stay 10–30 days. If cost matters, buy the minimum data you need to get into town, then compare packages at a city Türk Telekom branch. You can also add local calls for taxis and food delivery instead of relying only on data apps.
Payment usually works with major cards plus Turkish lira; some staff also accept mobile wallets linked to Visa or Mastercard. Keep your physical passport ready, not just a photo. Take a photo of the SIM packaging and the phone number printed on it before you walk away in case you need support later.
