Gate-side duty free runs through the center of Terminal T
The main Duty Free shop in Terminal T sits airside after security, right along the central walk between passport control and the gates. You pass it on the way to most international departures, so there’s no big detour from your route. Layout is the standard horseshoe: beauty and perfume at the front, liquor and tobacco through the middle, then chocolates and souvenirs near the exit.
Liquor prices here usually come in around 10–25% below downtown Istanbul for common brands, with multi-bottle promos on big labels. Expect the usual 1L bottles from major whisky, vodka, and gin names, plus regional raki. Payment in TRY, EUR, USD, and major cards all works, and receipts clearly show your allowance. Just remember Turkey’s duty-free limits on arrival and any rules at your final destination.
Perfume and cosmetics take a big chunk of the floor, with frequent 2-for-1 or 30% off promos on mid-range brands. High-end skincare and makeup sit in dedicated counters with staff pushing sets and gift boxes. If you want a quick gift, pre-wrapped fragrance packs near the front save time. Prices generally trail Western Europe airports by a bit but beat many city-center shops.
Confectionery racks near the exit carry the usual 1 kg chocolate tins, Turkish delight boxes, and mixed nut packs. Expect strong markups on last-minute snacks compared with the landside supermarket, but it’s fine for one or two souvenir boxes. Halal labeling appears on many items, but always re-check the small print on imported brands.
Practical tip: if your flight leaves from a bus gate at the far end of Terminal T, finish Duty Free shopping at least 25–30 minutes before boarding time; walking plus the bus transfer can eat more time than you’d expect.
