Grab and Go

Grab a cold water fast after security at PVR

Grab and Go sits past security in Terminal A at Puerto Vallarta International Airport, filling the gap between the gate seating and the slower sit-down spots. Think small counter, reach-in fridges, and packaged snacks you can pay for in under five minutes. It’s the place people hit when boarding starts in 20 minutes and they still need water and something to eat on the 3‑hour hop to Dallas or Houston.

You’ll see standard travel snacks in single-serve packs: chips, candy bars, cookies, and small sandwiches or pastries, all priced higher than street level in town but normal for an airport in Mexico. Expect to pay airport pricing for a 600 ml bottle of water or soft drink, and a bit more for energy drinks or juice. If you skipped breakfast in the hotel zone, this is more of a patch than a full meal stop.

Most counters like Grab and Go in PVR open early, in time for the morning US departures that start lining up before 7:00 am, and stay open through the late afternoon bank that feeds flights to hubs like Los Angeles and Mexico City. Seating is whatever you find at the nearby gates A1–A10, since the counter itself usually has little or no dedicated seating. Plan to carry everything back to your gate or onto the plane.

Drinks are the main play here: bottled water to dodge the inflight cart delay, sodas, and sometimes canned coffee drinks that work better than the inflight brew on a 2.5‑hour leg. Food skews to packaged items with long shelf lives, so this is not where you hunt for fresh ceviche or tacos al pastor. Use Grab and Go as your last stop for liquids after clearing security, and buy one extra bottle for the person in your row who forgot.
