Gate-side Indian Chinese at NITB: Mainland China
Mainland China sits inside the NITB terminal at Pune International Airport, past security, so you can eat and then walk straight to domestic or international gates. It’s a full-service Indian Chinese restaurant, not a snack kiosk, which matters if you’ve got 60–90 minutes before boarding and want a real sit-down meal instead of another pre-packed sandwich.
Expect mains in the ₹400–₹800 range, which puts Mainland China in the mid- to upper-price bracket for PNQ but still under typical hotel prices in Viman Nagar. Portions run large enough that one main and one rice or noodles easily feed one hungry adult, so splitting a starter like chicken lollipop or crispy corn makes sense if you’re two people.
The menu leans on the usual suspects: chilli chicken, Hakka noodles, fried rice, Manchurian gravies, and sweet corn or hot-and-sour soups. If you need something quick, stick to noodles or fried rice; those usually land in 15–20 minutes, while gravies with starters can stretch closer to 30 minutes when the NITB evening wave (around 19:00–22:00) hits. Veg and non-veg sections are clearly separated on the printed menu.
Service runs on standard restaurant timing, not fast-food speed, and the staff are used to guests asking them to pace dishes around a specific departure time. Tell them your gate and boarding time; they’ll usually guide you away from anything that takes longer to prepare. Most payments go through UPI or card, and bills include GST, so the amount on the check is the final number you pay.
Tip: if your boarding pass shows a departure in under 45 minutes, skip a full meal here and just grab soup or a starter so you’re not sprinting from NITB dining back to your gate when final call hits.
