Bar Alba

Gate-side caffeine in T1 without airport-level prices

Bar Alba sits airside in Falcone–Borsellino’s T1, just past security before the main cluster of B-gates, and runs roughly from the first morning departures around 05:30 until the last evening flights board. It’s a classic Italian airport bar setup: standing counter, a few stools, and quick turnover aimed at Schengen and domestic traffic heading toward Palermo’s frequent Rome and Milan runs.

An espresso at Bar Alba usually lands under €1.50, and a cappuccino sits closer to €2.00, which is cheaper than many big-brand chains in T1. Pastries like cornetti and sfogliatelle tend to run in the €1.20–€2.50 range, so you can grab a coffee-and-pastry breakfast for under €5. It’s the straightforward option if you just want fuel before an early AZ or FR hop.

Food beyond pastries stays simple: premade panini, tramezzini, and a few snack items in the €4–€7 bracket. Expect the usual fillings—prosciutto, mozzarella, tuna—rather than anything experimental. For a short domestic leg under 90 minutes, a sandwich and water here beats relying on a buy-on-board menu that starts above €6 for similar items.

Drinks run from small bottled water around €1.50 up to basic beers and house wine near €4–€5. If you’re killing 30–40 minutes before a late-afternoon departure and don’t want a full meal, a glass of Sicilian wine and a packet of crisps here keeps the bill under €10 and still feels more local than a generic multinational brand in T1.

One practical tip: lines spike roughly 30 minutes before the Rome and Milan banks between 06:00–08:00 and again around 18:00–20:00, so if your boarding pass says Group 3 or higher, hit Bar Alba as soon as you clear security rather than waiting for the boarding call crowd to form.
