Gate E20 in T3E is your landmark for the Cathay Pacific Lounge
The Cathay Pacific Lounge sits airside in Terminal 3E, mainly serving oneworld departures to Hong Kong and beyond. It’s past security and immigration, so you need an outbound international boarding pass from a oneworld airline to get in. The lounge is relatively compact for a major hub, so at peak evening Hong Kong banks around 18:00–21:00 it can feel busy, but outside those waves it’s usually calm enough to find a seat.
Access follows standard oneworld rules: oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members flying same-day oneworld from T3E get in, plus Cathay Pacific and oneworld business-class passengers. Economy passengers without status can’t buy day passes here. If you’re connecting from a domestic flight into T3C, factor in at least 25–30 minutes to clear transfer formalities and ride the people mover to T3E before you even think about lounge time.
Food is Chinese-leaning, with a small noodle bar that typically runs a made-to-order option like wonton or dan dan noodles during core Cathay departure windows, roughly 2–3 hours before each CX flight. Outside those times you’ll mostly see basic hot trays, sandwiches, and packaged snacks. Coffee comes from a self-service machine, soft drinks are canned, and beer and a couple of mid-shelf spirits sit on a help-yourself station, so set expectations closer to functional than gourmet.
Wi‑Fi runs off the airport network, so you still need a China internet access method, whether that’s a QR code from a vending machine in T3 or a local SIM; speeds are fine for streaming short clips and work email. Power outlets are scattered along the windows and near a few clusters of armchairs, but older seats in the middle of the room may have none, so look for the newer pods near the corridor side if your phone is below 30%.
Showers are limited, usually just a handful of rooms, and they’re most in demand in the late afternoon when inbound Europe connections arrive into Beijing before Hong Kong flights. Put your name down with staff as soon as you enter; a 20–30 minute wait isn’t unusual around 17:00–19:00. Towels and basic amenities are included, so you don’t need to unpack your full kit for a quick rinse.
Practical tip: If you have a long layover of 3+ hours in T3, split time between a walk through the main terminal and this lounge; show up here about 75 minutes before boarding so you still reach your gate in T3E’s long pier with 25–30 minutes to spare.
