P2 Short-Term Parking

Short-stay

Locals use P2 when P1 fills up in front of Terminal 1

P2 Short-Term Parking sits right next to the main P1 garage at Bucharest Henri Coandă (OTP) Terminal 1, working as overflow for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. This is short-stay only, not a long-term lot, and it’s close enough that you’re still just a few minutes’ walk from the terminal doors. Think of it as the backup option when P1 looks jammed or the entry ramp queue is too long.

This lot serves Terminal 1 departures and arrivals only, since OTP currently runs on a single terminal setup. P2 is in the same forecourt zone as P1, so you follow the same airport parking signs, then peel off into the outdoor short-stay section instead of the covered structure. It’s best for stops under a couple of hours, like meeting an incoming flight or dropping someone for a Wizz Air, TAROM, or Ryanair departure.

Pricing tracks P1 short-term rates in the first hours, with charges calculated by the hour rather than per day, so running inside “just for 10 minutes” can still cost you a full 60‑minute block. P2 usually has more open spaces than the primary garage, especially in daytime off-peaks between roughly 11:00 and 16:00, when morning banks have cleared. If you expect to park more than 3–4 hours, daily or long-stay options at OTP typically work out cheaper.

P2 is open 24/7, in line with Terminal 1’s schedule and the overnight Wizz Air and TAROM rotations. Lighting and traffic are similar to P1 because it shares the same access roads and exit barriers. Payment is via automated machines and barriers that read your ticket; keep a few Romanian leu or a working card handy in case contactless has issues, since reports across Romanian airports mention occasional card glitches.

Practical tip: if the P1 entry queue stretches back to the main access road, follow the same signs toward the terminal, then slide into P2 instead; you’ll usually be parked and walking inside 5–7 minutes faster than waiting for garage traffic to clear.
