Gate-side caffeine fix in T1 before early-morning departures

Zarraffa's Coffee sits airside in Gold Coast Airport’s T1, just past security, and ends up being the first proper espresso stop many people see after screening. It opens early for morning flights (typically from around 5:00) and runs through the main departure bank, so you can grab a flat white or long black without hiking back toward check-in.

Pricing is standard Australian chain coffee: expect roughly AUD 5–6 for a regular flat white, a bit more for iced drinks or specialty options, and under AUD 10 if you add a pastry or muffin. The menu runs through the usual suspects — cappuccino, latte, mocha, hot chocolate — plus syrups and alternative milks at small surcharges. If you like things stronger, ask for an extra shot; they do it often and don’t blink.

Food is quick-serve cabinet style, with muffins, banana bread slices, simple sandwiches, and sometimes toasties sitting ready to go next to the counter. Nothing here replaces an actual sit-down meal, but it’s fine if you just need a snack with 15 minutes before boarding. Most items come in under AUD 8, so you can pair a coffee and bite for less than AUD 15 total.

There’s limited seating right by the outlet and extra chairs roughly 20–30 metres away in the main T1 departure area, so many people just take their cups to the nearest gate. Queues jump right after the big security rush around 6:00–7:30, then again just before late-morning departures. Staff are used to people throwing out a “flight boards in 10” request and generally move quickly.

Tip: if your gate is at the far end of T1, order takeaway cups and walk toward your gate before sipping so you’re not sprinting when boarding calls start over the PA.
