Hoodies and decks right after security at T1
Boardriders sits airside in Gold Coast Airport’s T1, just past security and before the main food options, so you’ll walk right by it on the way to most gates. It’s a surf and skate retail store, not a café, so think last-minute gear and gifts rather than snacks and coffee.
The shop opens from 5:30am to 8:00pm, covering the bulk of Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and Qantas departures out of OOL T1. Early flights can still grab a hoodie before boarding, and evening departures around 7:00pm get a final chance to pick up beachwear after security.
Price-wise it sits in the $$ range for the terminal: more than souvenir stands, less than some boutique surf labels in the city. Expect typical branded tees to land around what you’d pay in a mall, with premium boards and wetsuits running higher, as usual for surf gear.
This is genuine surf and skate retail, not generic airport merch. You’ll see proper decks, skate shoes, logo caps, and beach clothing that actually works if you’re heading straight to Surfers Paradise after landing or flying out after a week on the coast. Sizes are typical Australian ranges; if you’re between sizes, try on before committing.
Because it’s post-security in T1, you don’t need to factor in extra screening time to duck in before boarding. The shop is useful for filling out a carry-on with a hoodie, thongs, or a cap if your checked bag is already locked, and it doubles as a quick backup if your luggage misses a connection and you still want surf basics on arrival.
Tip: if your flight leaves after 8:00pm, buy anything you need from Boardriders earlier in the day, as the shutters come down right on closing time.
