Gate-side sushi in T1 beats another muffin run

Two Tigers sits post-security in Gold Coast Airport’s T1 departures, open daily from 6:00am to 5:00pm. It’s one of the few spots in the terminal doing Japanese food and sushi instead of standard café fare, so it stands out if you’ve already done your coffee-and-toast round.

This is a mid-range stop at about $$, with sushi rolls, nigiri plates and hot dishes typically landing a few dollars above food-court pricing in Surfers. You’ll see classic salmon and tuna rolls in the cabinet along with teriyaki chicken and katsu-style options if you want something heavier before a mid-morning or early afternoon flight.

Because it closes at 5:00pm, Two Tigers really only serves the early and daytime departures out of T1. If you’re on an evening flight, plan to eat here before 4:30pm to avoid the shut doors and reduced menu that tends to start creeping in during the last half hour of service.

Seating sits directly off the T1 concourse, so you’re eating within sight of nearby gates instead of tucked away from traffic. It’s a quick option for anyone who wants to grab a salmon avo roll or a hot rice bowl and still be at boarding within 10–15 minutes, especially on shorter domestic hops where buy-on-board is limited.

Packaging is mostly grab-and-go trays, with some made-to-order items during busier periods between 8:00am and 2:00pm. Expect standard airport drink pricing on bottled water and soft drinks, so factor that into the bill if you’re feeding a family of three or four.

Practical tip: if you want the freshest sushi, skip the first batch at 6:00am and swing by around 9:00–10:00am, after they’ve cycled through the early commuter rush from T1.
