Gate-side beers from 5:00am at T1
The Sand Bar sits airside in T1 at Gold Coast Airport, just past security and a short walk from most domestic gates. It opens early at 5:00am, so you can get a coffee or a beer even on the first departures, and it runs through to 8:00pm for the last bank of flights.
This is a straight-up bar and lounge setup: counter service, beers and wines in the $$ range, plus typical airport bar food. Think burgers, chips, and finger food priced a bit above what you’d pay in town, which is standard inside OOL. Kitchen hours run 5:00am to 7:30pm, so after that you’re looking at drinks only.
Drink list leans on tap beer and Australian wines, with spirits for basic mixed drinks. Expect to pay mid-teens for a glass of wine or a simple spirit and mixer, and similar for most mains. If you want a quick bite, grab something that comes out of the fryer or off the grill; it usually lands faster than anything more complicated.
Seating is open to the concourse, so you can watch gate screens from your table and keep an eye on boarding calls. There are a handful of high-tops and bar stools that fill quickly in the evening bank around 6:00pm to 7:00pm, when departures bunch up. Turnover is fast, but don’t count on a quiet corner during peak school-holiday waves.
With no strong standout dish reported, treat The Sand Bar as a place for a pre-flight drink and a simple meal rather than a destination restaurant. The useful move: check your gate first, then sit on the side closest to your pier so you can walk to boarding in under five minutes.
